Pakistan outclass New Zealand in U19 World Cup

New Zealand struggled after choosing to bat first and managed only 110 runs.

Pakistan produced a commanding display in their Super Six clash of the ICC Men’s Under-19 World Cup 2026, defeating New Zealand by eight wickets at the Harare Sports Club on Tuesday. Abdul Subhan starred with the ball, while Sameer Minhas anchored the chase with a composed half-century that sealed the result with plenty of time to spare.

New Zealand struggled after choosing to bat first and managed only 110 runs. Ali Raza struck early by trapping Marco William Alpe for two, leaving the Black Caps unsettled at 7 for 1. Hugo Bogue and captain Tom Jones offered brief resistance with a 48-run stand. Bogue looked threatening with 39 off 27 balls, hitting six boundaries and two sixes, but Mohammad Sayyam dismissed him and triggered a collapse. Subhan then took control, removing Jones for 15 and dismantling the middle order. He finished with outstanding figures of 4 for 11, while Raza claimed three wickets. Sayyam and Momin Qamar chipped in with one apiece as Pakistan bowled New Zealand out for 110.

Chasing a modest target, Pakistan lost Hamza Zahoor early with the score at 18. Minhas steadied the innings with Usman Khan, building a crucial 67-run partnership. Minhas played with maturity and confidence, scoring 76 runs that guided Pakistan toward victory. Usman contributed 15 before Luke Harrison dismissed him. Captain Farhan Yousaf joined Minhas and finished the job with an unbeaten 11 off nine balls.

Pakistan reached the target with 32.5 overs to spare, securing a dominant win that strengthened their position in the Super Six stage. The performance highlighted the team’s balance, with disciplined bowling backed by calm and assured batting.
