LAHORE: A fresh controversy has emerged in Pakistan cricket after Australian batter Cameron Green appeared to make a “chucking” gesture following his dismissal against mystery spinner Usman Tariq during the second T20I in Lahore.

The incident occurred in Tariq’s very first over when Shadab Khan took a catch to remove Green for 35, a key breakthrough for Pakistan. As Green walked back to the pavilion, cameras captured him making a motion that many fans and commentators interpreted as an accusation of an illegal bowling action.

The gesture quickly overshadowed the dismissal and sparked renewed debate about Tariq’s bowling mechanics. His action has faced scrutiny before, having been reported during PSL 9 and PSL 10. On both occasions, Tariq underwent testing at the PCB-accredited biomechanics lab and was cleared, with his action deemed legal.

Tariq has consistently defended his style, explaining that his elbow’s natural structure prevents full straightening, which can sometimes create misconceptions about his release. He emphasized that his deliveries remain within the ICC’s permitted 15-degree elbow extension limit.

Speaking previously on the issue, Tariq said: “I was confident from the beginning that I don’t throw the ball.” He added that the proper way to address such concerns is through official testing, which he has already completed twice without needing adjustments.
