Muslim bloc condemns Gaza ceasefire violations

The statement described Israel’s actions as a direct threat to the political process, stressing that ongoing hostilities obstruct efforts to create conditions for Gaza’s transition to stability in both security and humanitarian terms.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan and seven other Muslim-majority countries on Sunday issued a strong condemnation of Israel’s repeated breaches of the Gaza ceasefire, warning that continued attacks threaten fragile efforts to restore calm and advance a political process aimed at long-term stability.

In a joint statement released by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, the foreign ministers of Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkiye and the United Arab Emirates joined Islamabad in denouncing the violence, which they said has killed and injured more than a thousand Palestinians. The ministers cautioned that the violations risk undermining regional and international initiatives designed to consolidate peace, including the second phase of US President Donald Trump’s peace plan and the implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 2803.

The statement described Israel’s actions as a direct threat to the political process, stressing that ongoing hostilities obstruct efforts to create conditions for Gaza’s transition to stability in both security and humanitarian terms. The ministers urged all parties to fully commit to the ceasefire, warning that sustained violations could undo hard-won progress toward de-escalation.

Calling the current moment “critical,” the bloc pressed for maximum restraint and emphasized the need to establish favorable conditions for recovery and reconstruction in Gaza. They reaffirmed that lasting peace requires a just settlement based on the Palestinian right to self-determination and statehood, in line with international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the Arab Peace Initiative.

The condemnation comes amid mounting global concern over the fragility of the ceasefire, brokered after weeks of intense fighting that devastated Gaza and deepened its humanitarian crisis. Despite diplomatic efforts, renewed Israeli strikes have raised fears of wider escalation and further civilian suffering.

Islamabad reiterated its call for an immediate end to hostilities, unhindered humanitarian access, and the revival of a credible political process to resolve the decades-old Palestinian issue.
