“All necessary actions are being taken to pursue these terrorists and rid the province of this menace,” he told participants during the session.
Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Asim Munir has reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to eliminating foreign-backed militant networks operating in Balochistan, stating that decisive action is underway against groups promoting violence and obstructing development in the province.
Speaking at the 17th National Workshop Balochistan held at General Headquarters on Tuesday, Field Marshal Munir accused India-supported proxies, including Fitna al-Hindustan and Fitna al-Khawarij, of spreading anti-people and anti-progress narratives with the intent to destabilize the region.
“All necessary actions are being taken to pursue these terrorists and rid the province of this menace,” he told participants during the session.
The army chief described Balochistan as the pride of Pakistan, praising its resilient and patriotic citizens as the province’s greatest asset. He highlighted ongoing federal and provincial initiatives aimed at transforming the socio-economic landscape through inclusive and people-focused development.
Munir also emphasized the vital role of civil society, particularly youth engagement, in countering divisive agendas and ensuring long-term prosperity. He called for continued collaboration between civil and military institutions to address the challenges facing Balochistan.
While reiterating Pakistan’s desire for regional peace and stability, Munir warned that any breach of the country’s territorial integrity would be met with a firm and resolute response to protect its citizens.
The workshop concluded with an open question and answer session, allowing participants to engage directly with the army chief on pressing issues.
According to a recent report by the Centre for Research and Security Studies, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, both bordering Afghanistan, have borne the brunt of terrorism in Pakistan, accounting for over 96 percent of violent incidents nationwide. Balochistan alone witnessed 25 percent of total fatalities and 85 reported incidents.
During his previous visit to the province, Field Marshal Munir underscored the importance of joint civil-military efforts in addressing the region’s security and development concerns. His latest remarks signal a continued focus on combating militancy while fostering growth and stability in Balochistan.
